Cookies this store sets

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser so it can recognize your browser on the next page or the next visit. A session cookie disappears when you close the browser. A persistent cookie stays until it expires or until you delete it. The tables below list what shrimpaquatics.com uses, grouped by what each group is for.

Essential store cookies

These come from WordPress and WooCommerce, the software the store runs on. They hold your cart and your checkout step, and they contain no name, address or payment details. The store cannot take an order without them, so they are set as soon as you use the cart and are not covered by the consent banner.

Essential cookies set by WooCommerce on shrimpaquatics.com
Cookie Duration What it does
woocommerce_cart_hash Session Lets the store detect when your cart contents change.
woocommerce_items_in_cart Session Lets the store detect when your cart contents change.
wp_woocommerce_session_ 2 days Holds a unique code that links your browser to your cart data on our server.
woocommerce_recently_viewed Session Powers the recently viewed products display.
store_notice[notice id] Session Remembers that you dismissed a store notice.

If you create a store account, WordPress adds two more essential cookies once you sign in. A wordpress_logged_in_ cookie keeps you logged in as you move between pages and expires 14 days after login by default, and a wp-settings- cookie remembers your own interface preferences. Neither is set for visitors who only browse or check out as a guest.

Payment and fraud prevention cookies

Card and PayPal fields at checkout are loaded directly by Stripe and PayPal, not by us. Both providers set their own cookies in your browser at that point, mainly to keep the payment session attached to the right order and to spot card fraud. Stripe and PayPal decide what those cookies are called and how long they last, and we have no way to switch them off without breaking checkout. Their current lists are published in the Stripe Cookies Policy and the PayPal Statement on Cookies and Tracking Technologies.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people reach, which care guides they read before ordering and where the site is confusing. The reports we look at are aggregate counts, and we do not use them to identify individual buyers. These cookies are set only if you accept analytics in the cookie banner.

Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics 4
Cookie Default duration What it does
_ga 2 years Distinguishes one visitor from another.
_ga_<container-id> 2 years Keeps session state for our Analytics property.

Two years is the default expiry Google sets. Browsers shorten it on their own: Chrome caps a first-party cookie at 400 days, and Safari at 7 days, if you do not come back in the meantime.

Not used here We run no advertising, remarketing or social media pixels on shrimpaquatics.com. Nothing on this site builds an advertising profile of you or follows you to other websites.

Choose or change your cookie settings

The first time you open shrimpaquatics.com, a cookie banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Google Analytics does not run until you accept, and that applies to every visitor no matter which country you order from. Essential store cookies are not part of the choice, because the cart and checkout cannot run without them.

You can change your answer whenever you like using the cookie settings control that the banner provides, and your new choice takes effect immediately. Withdrawing consent stops new analytics cookies from being set, but it does not remove ones already stored, so clear them in your browser as well if you want them gone. If you would rather opt out of Google Analytics on every site you visit, Google publishes a browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Manage or delete cookies in your browser

Your browser can block cookies, delete the ones already stored, or refuse third-party cookies entirely. The controls sit under privacy or site settings in Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, and clearing cookies for this one site is the cleanest way to reset shrimpaquatics.com without losing your logins elsewhere.

What stops working if you block cookies

Before you block everything Blocking essential cookies breaks the cart and checkout. Items will not stay in your basket, and you will not be able to complete an order or reach the payment step.

Blocking analytics cookies costs you nothing. Every page, care guide and product works exactly the same, and we simply lose the visit count. If you want to browse privately but still order, allow essential cookies and decline analytics.

How this policy fits with our Privacy Policy

This page covers only what is stored in your browser. What we do with the personal information behind an order, including your name, address, order history and any photos you send with a live arrival claim, is set out in our Privacy Policy. That page also explains the legal basis for each use, where your data is sent, how long we keep it and how to ask for a copy or deletion. Questions about either policy go to contact@shrimpaquatics.com, which is our only privacy contact channel.

When this policy changes

We update this page whenever we add, remove or replace a service that sets cookies, and the date near the top always shows the current version. If a change means new cookies that need your consent, the banner will ask you again rather than assuming your earlier answer still applies.
