Aquarium Fish Care & Buying Guide

Will a fish eat the shrimp in your tank?

Expect small fish to eat shrimplets. Small tetras are often peaceful with adult shrimp, but many will pick off the young, and no fish is safe for a shrimp colony you want to grow. The one fish we stock right now is the Cardinal Tetra (Paracheirodon axelrodi), and that's how it behaves too.

If raising shrimplets matters to you, keep your fish in a separate tank. If your shrimp are there as a cleanup crew and you accept losing some young, a shared tank is your call. Bettas, larger fish and cichlids are a different case: they're a real risk to shrimp of any size.

Does your water suit a fish and your shrimp together?

Only when temperature, water chemistry, space and feeding all overlap. Sulawesi shrimp are the hardest case, because they need warm, alkaline water at 79-86°F (26-30°C) and pH 7.5-8.5. The list of fish tankmates for Sulawesi shrimp is short, and we wouldn't add Cardinal Tetras to a Sulawesi tank without checking that match first.

Ordering fish from Vietnam

Everything in our catalog is bred or propagated in our own tanks rather than collected from the wild. Have the tank cycled and stable before the box ships.

Shipping is a flat USD 120 per order to every country, and our shipping policy for live orders covers the rest. Shrimp Aquatics pays the duties and taxes the courier bills against the shipment, on every route. You are not asked to settle a customs charge before the box is released to you. Confirming your own import rules is part of ordering. Once the courier collects the box, transit is normally 2-3 days.

Film one continuous unboxing from the sealed box, with the shipping label readable, until every bag is open and counted. The live arrival guarantee needs that video and a report within 2 hours of the carrier's delivery time.
