This policy explains what personal information Shrimp Aquatics collects when you browse or order from shrimpaquatics.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and how you can control it. We sell live aquatic animals internationally, so some of your information has to travel with your order.

Who we are and how to contact us
Shrimp Aquatics is an online store that breeds and ships freshwater shrimp and other aquatic livestock from Vietnam to hobbyists worldwide. We operate the website shrimpaquatics.com and we decide how and why your personal information is used, which makes us the data controller for that information.
For any privacy question or request, email contact@shrimpaquatics.com. Email is our only privacy contact channel, and we answer privacy requests through it.
What information we collect
We only collect what we need to answer you, take your order, ship live animals safely, and keep the store working. We do not ask for information that has nothing to do with your order.

Card data We never see or store your full card number. Card details are entered directly with Stripe or PayPal, and only the payment result reaches us.
We do not collect sensitive categories such as health, biometric, racial or ethnic, religious, political or precise geolocation data, and we ask you not to send them to us.
Why we use your information
Every use below is tied to a purpose and, for readers in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, to a legal basis under the GDPR.
- To take, pack and ship your order, and to handle refunds or live arrival claims. Legal basis: performance of your contract with us.
- To answer your emails and give suitability or care advice. Legal basis: performance of a contract, or our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
- To complete customs, export and import paperwork for live animals. Legal basis: compliance with a legal obligation, and performance of your contract.
- To keep accounting and tax records of sales. Legal basis: compliance with a legal obligation under Vietnamese law.
- To protect the site against fraud, abuse and technical attack. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure store, and for the payment step, performance of your contract.
- To measure how the website is used through analytics. Legal basis: your consent, given through the cookie banner and withdrawable at any time.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not run advertising or social media tracking pixels on this site.
Cookies and website analytics
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Our store needs some of them to work at all, and we use one analytics service to understand how readers move through the site. Our Cookie Policy lists every cookie by name, along with who sets it and how long it lasts.
- Essential cookies from WordPress and WooCommerce keep your cart contents, your login session and your checkout step. The store cannot function without them, so they are not part of the consent choice.
- Payment and fraud prevention cookies are set by Stripe and PayPal when the payment fields load at checkout. Those providers set and control them, and they are needed to complete a payment safely.
- Analytics cookies from Google Analytics 4 tell us which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and which care guides people read before ordering. This is reported to us in aggregate, and we do not use it to identify individuals.
A cookie banner appears on your first visit and asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Google Analytics does not run until you accept, and this applies to every visitor regardless of country. You can change your answer at any time through the cookie settings control the banner provides, and withdrawing consent stops new analytics cookies from being set.
You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites using the browser add-on Google publishes at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Blocking essential cookies will break the cart and checkout.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We pass it only to the services that make an order happen, and only the part each one needs.

We may also disclose information if a court, tax authority or law enforcement body lawfully requires it, or if we need it to establish or defend a legal claim.
Where your information is sent
Shrimp Aquatics operates from Vietnam, so your order information is processed in Vietnam. Our payment, hosting, email and analytics providers may store data in the United States and other countries.
Buyers in the EEA and the UK When you place an order, transferring your name, address and contact details to us in Vietnam is necessary to perform the purchase contract you asked us to fulfill. We rely on that basis under Article 49(1)(b) of the GDPR and the UK GDPR. If you would rather not have your details transferred outside the EEA or the UK, do not place an order, because we cannot ship to you without them.
How long we keep your information
We keep information only as long as the reason for holding it lasts.
- Order, invoice and payment records are kept for the period Vietnamese tax and accounting law requires, then deleted or anonymized.
- Live arrival claim evidence, including photos, is kept while the claim is open and for as long as we may need it to defend a related dispute.
- General email correspondence is kept while the conversation is useful for supporting you, and is deleted when it is not.
- Store account details are kept until you ask us to close the account.
- Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics property, after which Google deletes it.
Your privacy rights and how to use them
Wherever you live, you can email contact@shrimpaquatics.com and ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, send you a copy, or stop a particular use. We will answer within one month. If a request is complex we will tell you before that month ends and explain how much longer we need.
We may ask you to confirm the email address used for your order so that we do not hand your details to someone else. We will not charge you for a request or treat you differently for making one.
One limit worth knowing We cannot delete records that tax, accounting, customs or export law requires us to keep. If that applies, we will tell you which records must stay and delete the rest.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom
You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing based on legitimate interests. Where we rely on your consent, including analytics cookies, you can withdraw it at any time, and that does not affect processing that already happened. You can also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority, or with the Information Commissioner’s Office in the United Kingdom.
If you are in California
You can ask us to tell you what categories of personal information we collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it and who received it, and you can ask us to delete or correct it. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, and we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that would give you a right to limit it. You can use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.
If you are in Australia
You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. If you believe we have mishandled your information, email us first so we can investigate. If our answer does not resolve it, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
If you are in Vietnam
We process personal data in line with Vietnam’s Law on Personal Data Protection, Law No. 91/2025/QH15. You may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, or a copy of your data, withdraw consent, object to processing, and complain to the competent Vietnamese authority.
Children’s privacy
The store is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16, and orders should be placed by someone old enough to enter a purchase contract. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
How we protect your information
The site runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection, store accounts are password protected, and access to order data is limited to the people who pack and ship your order. Payment card details never reach our systems. No website can promise perfect security, so use a strong password and tell us quickly if you think your account has been misused.
If a data breach affects your personal information and creates a real risk to you, we will notify you and the relevant authority within the time limits the law sets.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our services, providers or legal obligations change. The date at the top always shows the current version. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will say so clearly on this page, and we will contact account holders by email where the law requires it.
